Free webinars return to help owners make life better for their horses
Our Welfare Wednesday webinars return on 28th October, giving expert advice for every horse owner.
Posted on 19/10/2026
From understanding separation anxiety and managing itchy skin to caring for hooves, coping with the effects of climate change, and making responsible breeding decisions, the seventh series of our Welfare Wednesday webinars will explore some of the common questions and challenges faced by horse owners.
The first webinar, How to train your horse at liberty, will be presented by award-winning equine trainer Lucy Chester at 7pm on Wednesday 28th October. Lucy will share her insights on the benefits of training horses at liberty, her approach, the importance of choice and how horse owners can get started if they’re interested in giving training at liberty a go with their own horse. Viewers will be able to ask Lucy questions at the end, getting advice tailored to their own queries.
Our Education Officer, Rebecca Boulert, says:
“There’s always more we can learn about horses and what they need from us. Our Welfare Wednesday webinars give owners and equine industry professionals free access to trusted specialists and evidence-based guidance that can be applied to the horses in their care.
“This series explores a wide range of subjects, but every session has the same aim: to leave viewers with useful ideas, a deeper understanding of their horse’s needs, and practical steps they can take to support the welfare of horses in their care.”
As well as Lucy Chester, the series will feature equine vet Adam Redpath, equine behaviourists and trainers Rosa Verwijs and Liane Preshaw, World Class Programme farrier Ben Benson and Jan Birch of the British Horse Foundation.
All sessions will be free to watch live, with recordings subsequently available on our website, alongside 74 previous Welfare Wednesday webinars. Find out more and sign up for the upcoming webinar here.
