Meet Fern
Fern is a sweet tempered mare with a lovely nature. Her gentle demeanour and resilient spirit soon captivated the hearts of all the grooms. Fern tends to keep herself to herself as she dislikes conflict and she has been bullied in the past. Fern came from a very tough background where her life was not easy. Despite all this she has the sweetest personality and she just needs some love in return. Her trusting nature makes her an ideal non-ridden companion for those ready to provide a caring and understanding environment. Fern is a sensible pony who is generally good to handle and she is ready to embark on her next journey of mutual respect and lifelong friendship in a new home.
Important stuff
This horse is based at Hall Farm, where we’ve been managing a strangles outbreak in some of our horses. They have been screened using guttural pouch lavage (the gold standard test), completed a full course of strangles vaccinations, and spent time in quarantine in a green zone paddock. They are now available for rehoming as part of our phased return to normal activities.
Fern can never be ridden or driven.
All equines in our centres are regularly assessed by a team of experts including a vet, physiotherapist and farrier, and these assessments have found that Fern is not suitable to be worked.
History
Fern was part of a group of neglected horses. She was underweight and in poor condition. A RSPCA prosecution was planned, but later dropped as it was impossible to prove ownership. Fern was recently returned from loan following a change in circumstances of her rehomer. She came back with a glowing report.
