Meet pony Amelia at Badminton Horse Trials
Visitors to this year's Badminton Horse Trials can meet rehomed pony Amelia part way round the cross country course, next to World Horse Welfare's sponsored jump.

Rehomed pony, World Horse Welfare Amelia, will be meeting visitors to Badminton Horse Trials on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th May as the popular equestrian event returns after a two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Amelia will be near Fence 10 on the cross-country course, next to Lakeside Fence 11 which this year is being sponsored by World Horse Welfare, the UK’s largest horse rescue and rehoming charity.
Amelia is a very pretty, chestnut 13-year-old Welsh Section A pony who came into the charity’s care in 2014 as part of a group of mostly unhandled horses. On arrival, Amelia was suffering with long feet and a lice infestation. In the expert hands of World Horse Welfare’s Glenda Spooner Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre team, in Somerset, Amelia soon began to thrive – and her personality started to show through!
She was rehomed as a companion pony by Alison last year after returning to Glenda Spooner Farm from her previous home and has settled in very well, along with fellow rehomed pony Lucien.
Visitors to the cross-country course will be able to meet Amelia, and find out more about her background and personality and the rehoming process.
World Horse Welfare also have a stand (90 Beaufort Way) at the horse trials where people can find out more about rehomed horses and what they have gone on to do and the other work the charity does, or even stand the chance of winning £4,000 in the charity’s spring raffle.
World Horse Welfare works to improve equine welfare by strengthening the horse-human partnership in all of its guises, including in horse sport.
